Default Yankees to sign Jolbert Cabrera?

Quote:
The Yankees are considering signing Jolbert Cabrera, who has spent the last two years in Japan.

If the Yankees sign him, he could receive a chance to compete for a job as a utilityman.
Per Rotoworld:

Jolbert Cabrera-3B-Player

Nothing major, but I figured I would still post it. Do the Yankees need Jolbert Cabrera, would he be a good utility player for them?

Default Who in God's name is....

Jolbert Cabrera??? Why are the Yanks wasting their time looking at players like Julio Zuleta and Cabrera?? I hope they can find better players than those two no names!!! Hey Cashman, liven up the offseason for us Yankee fans and make an offer to Barry Zito so we can approve our pitching staff. If we go into the season with our current staff, we're in BIG trouble!!!

Are we not going to re-sign Cairo?

BTW, the Yankees drafted 1B Josh Phelps in teh Rule 5 draft. He had 17 HR a couple of year ago. He has to be kept on the big-league roster all year or returned to Baltimore.

I suppose signing Cabrera wouldn't hurt, but I'd rather have Cairo. Still, if we hve Jolbert stored in Scranton, then if somethign happens to an infielder, he's a guy we can call up.

Zuleta is in the same category. Store him in AAA and bring him up if needed. Better to have depth.
