Now they're laying out $9 million per over 3 years for Jason Marquis, according to MLB.com.
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...2006&fext=.jsp Where are the Cubs getting the money? Especially after the Sori signing. Last edited by Timmer; 12-09-2006 at 01:14 PM. |

They're paying Soriano $17 million per for 8 years (8years!!!), Lilly 10 mill per for 4, Marquis 9 1/3 mill per for 3. After the Sori signing, I didn't think the Little Bears had the money left to get pitching. But I guess you can spread it around like peanut butter when you're selling the club and someone else will be on the hook.
These guys have made three high-dollar, high-profile signings this offseason and the Dodgers have made 5 (plus one of their own free agents from last year whom they re-signed this winter.) How come neither of those teams is accused of trying to buy a pennant? |
