The Steinbrenner family has poured a lot of resources into the Yankees to win, but Steinbrenner is known for impulsive signings, hirigns, and firings, and the family has managed to alienate Tony Kubek, Yogi (for 14 years), Stottlemyre, Zimmer, Torre, A-Rod, and many others. Many of the impulsive Steinbrenner decisions, such as the demand to get Ken Phelps, have harmed the team.
Overall, are the Steinbrenners a good or bad influence? |

I think you'd have to say good. He/they run the team like a business, without regard for personal feelings. And the bottom line is they always do whatever they can to field a winning team, which as a fan, is what you hope the owner of your particular team will do.
They've built (with help of course) the Yankees into a global empire which may as well produce it's own cash because they make so much money. All in all, I think their plusses outweigh their minuses. |
