Exclamation Roberto Hernandez to the Indians

With Roberto Hernandez joining the Indians and Octavio Dotel having received three offers to close games, the Rockies' options to add relievers are shrinking.

Not that big of a deal, in my opinion. Was never a big Hernandez fan. I hope the Mets sign at least 1 MR this off-season.

If not, you have Heilman, Sanchez, Feliciano, Dave Williams, Jon Adkins, and if healthy, I suppose Zambrano could be added as long relief.

Other's who can compete for the job are Padilla, Schmoll, and Standridge [sp?].

I would really like the Mets to re-sign Darren Oliver, but last I heard, they aren't even talking to him.

^I believe I read in the Daily News that the Mets would not be pursuing Oliver. With the way the market is, I can see him demanding 3-4M+ per season.

also don't forget about last year gogin into the season not many people thought that Bradford, Sanchez, and even Mota would be that good for us and look at what happened. Hopefully luck can strike two years in a row

I do not think that Roberto Hernandez would be that much of a loss. After the Mets acquired him, he did not exactly pitch all that well, and definitely not as well as his previous stint with the Mets.

Realizing their vulnerability in the bullpen, the Mets offered arbitration to relievers Guillermo Mota and Roberto Hernandez. Doing so ensures a compensatory draft pick.

I like the idea of getting a compensatory pick for Robo. I think the bullpen will be fine without him and Oliver. Minaya and Peterson have shown a knack for building solid bullpens and the Mets still have a lot of good pieces in place. Bradford is obviously the biggest blow.

Smart move by Minaya to offer Roberto arbitration. I didn't want him back anyway, but the deal gets even better considering the Mets will get a pick now.

Losing Bradford is gonna hurt, especially against Pujols and his ilk.
