Lightbulb Its Official: Mets sign Moises Alou

Mets sign Moises Alou

Quote:
The New York Mets announced today that they have signed free agent outfielder Moises Alou to a one-year, $7.5 million contract with a club option for 2008.
I'm not thrilled about this. If we were going to have an old, overpaid LF, I'd rather have Cliffy.

Let's hope this works out for the Mets!

Me either. I wanted Floyd back as well. Looks like Cliff may end up in Chicago where he is from. I wish him the best.

While this isnt the sexy move most of us were looking for (Soriano, Lee, Manny, ect) Alou will definately help against left handed pitching. 22 homers and 73 ribbies in 98 games is pretty damn good, IMO. Hopefully, he can keep his brittle body in one piece, lol

Both Alou and Floyd are hurt all the time. Rather have Alou considering he crushes LH pitching. We really struggled against lefties and he should help.

I'm not thrilled but I wasn't thrilled about Floyd's DL time either. I hear that he wants to go to Baltimore.

I think it's a great move. I will miss Floyd as well but I think Alou's ability to hit LHP works better for the Mets. Plus he's a short term option that leaves the door open for Milledge or maybe even Gomez. I'm sure we'll see a healthy dose of Endy next season but it would have most likely been the same with Floyd.

Im a big Yankees fan but i like the Mets a little bit cause my brothers like the Mets. I go to Mets and Braves games all the time.

Alou will help the Mets. Is he going to start? I dont get why he would start cause the Mets have Floyd at LF.

If Alou can stay healthy and produce, then I'm cool with the signing. I'm a little worried, though...

Well Dy, who would you rather have Alou or Floyd. Both hurt but both have the potenital to have BIG years. I rather have a OF that isn't as hurt as much especially with the amount of money they are paying Alou. But its not a bad pickup IF he can stay healthy

Since it's a one year deal I don't have a problem with it. Alou helps where we needed the help. Alou vs. Floyd with injuries is a toss up IMO. Alou produced pretty good when he played this year.

I'd be worried about Floyd, too. Nowhere did I say that Floyd would be the better option. I was kind of hoping for the Mets to get someone that would sure up a corner of the outfield. I wasn't expecting it, but I was hoping.

Alou will be the starting LF. Floyd is gone.

Starting outfield will be Alou, C-Belt and Green. Chavez and Ben Johnson will be the bench of's.

I am fine with the Mets signing Moises Alou. Cliff Floyd will be missed, but I can live without him. I just hope Alou stays healthy, something Floyd had trouble doing.

I like the Alou signing. It's a 1 year deal so it's not like we signed him for several years and that would be blocking another player. The contracts these outfielders are signing this season are insane so I see nothing wrong with this Alou deal. The guy may be older but he can still hit and I think he'll give us better production than what Cliff would. I wish Cliff well but I'm glad Alou is here..
