Exclamation Howard Johnson new first base coach

As most of us know we lost Manny Acta to the Nats. Who takes over as our third base coach?

According to Ed Coleman the front runner is Sandy Alomar with Rickey Henderson taking over at first. Sorry no link.

Ricky would be a good choice, IMO

I would LOVE to see the Kid come back and coach first. Or maybe Lee Mazilli? I hear he's not working...

Uggh no thanks... Lest we forget what this bum did to our morale during the WS in 2000. Let's save these jobs for our former players who actually showed leadership and class when they were here.

No Mazzilli... what was that fake charge he made that stuck? Interference? Blech.

I'd like to see Rickey in there. I bet Rickey would like to see Rickey in there, too.

I'd prefer not to see Ricky as a coach for the Mets. Would rather see Gary Carter, HoJo, or Oberkfell get a promotion to either 1B/3B coach.

Ricky Henderson would be a great ideal firstbase coach for the mets because he was working with Reyes as a private coach throught last year helping him with baserunning and hitting. Now is a good time to at least give Rickey a shot this way he can be and help Reyes more and help develop a lot of our other upcoming prospects get better like miliedge (if hes still with us) and even Carlos Gomez

I am split on Rickey Henderson becoming the first base coach for the Mets. Henderson could be a big help to the Mets, especially to the younger players. But, at the same time, I think about him during his playing days with the Mets.

If he comes to the Mets and has a positive attitude and is willing to help the younger players, I am okay with him being the first base coach.

Gary Carter seems like a viable option to me as well though.

According to the above link, the only candidates for the position are Gary Carter, Howard Johnson, and Ken Oberkfell. The article also mentions that the Mets could make an announcement prior to the winter meetings.

Matthew Cerrone of Metsblog is hearing rumours out of Orlando that HoJo will be named the Mets new 3rd base coach.

I like HoJo and all but I think there are better options. I would have like Obie as the 3rd base coach. He deserved it, but HoJo is still gonna be good.

hey folks haha I'm back......

I'd like to see HoJo win the job to be perfectly honest, but either way the Mets have always had good coachs.

Mazilli...blech. I can't stand the guy after that 2000 WS. And Ricky, i would have serious doubts about him in any true leadership role... at least the players name would be on their backs so Ricky could remember them. Glad those two names are unsubstantiated.

On the surface of the issue, I'd love to see the Kid or HoJo back. Oberkfell, I really know nothing about.
