Default Dontrelle Willis

would you trade for him or not... I think I would...What would it take to get him...you'd need to start with Milledge and Heilman along with probably another pitching prospect at least...At 23 yrs old I'd go for it, and give him a 4 or 5 yr contract so as to have him thru his first couple of free agent yrs...I think him along with getting Zito as a free agent (forget Glavine)plus the kids we have might give us a pretty damn good staff...plz don't beat me up too badly on this, it's just an opinion....so plz be gentle...lol

I'd rather give up Millage and Heilman with some prospects for Willis than breaking the bank for Zito. I like Willis...he's young and I think would fit in well with the team. Then again, there's the Zito/Peterson connection.

Either way:

Willis > Zito.

This is, of course, assuming he's available. And if we can get Willis AND Zito, well, hazzah!

I think we'd probably have to give up Milledge, Heilman and maybe a second tier prospect. I would do it in a heartbeat, but im assuming that Fla would be reluctant to trade him within the division.

They would, but they've done it in the past (Delgado).

With Alou, Beltran and Green, how much PT will Milledge be getting? Though, Green's contract is (thankfully) done at the end of this season. I'd rather keep Endy, and try to turn Milledge et al into Dontrelle.

I don't think Endy should have an impact on what our decision is with Milledge. Endy's contributions are derived from his versatility and his defense. I don't think we are going to see a repeat of his offensive stats from 2006, he put up numbers that were well above his career numbers (100 point OPS increase over career numbers).

I am torn on Dontrelle to be honest, his stats in 2006 were not #1 material. His WHIP was a very high 1.42, and his K/9 IP was only 6.45, and his K/BB ratio was only about 2. But to get a 24 year old pitcher with his stuff, giving up Milledge/Heilman + is what its going to cost.
