Is this a done deal yet?

I have no problem with this, as long as the guy never makes the big league roster in any capacity. Julio Franco is enough for one more year.

Besides, the moment I heard about this, it sounded like one of those deals where the aging player gets cut in spring training and retires.

Done deal as of Jan. 31 - 6:43 pm et

Mets signed outfielder Ruben Sierra to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The 41-year-old Sierra will be stashed away in Triple-A just in case the Mets need an extra bat later. Ideally, he won't see the majors again until September.

Sierra still has some pop left in his bat. It wasn't long ago that he helped The Yanks a lot in the regular and post seasons. It can't hurt to have a switch hitter with power to pinch hit once in awhile.

Hes a DH.
We have 12 pitchers.
