Forget Blanton. Let's just go with what we have right now.

Milledge may or may not reach his projected potential. Bottom line is the A's cannot afford to give up any of their 1-4 starters and still expect to compete for the division. It's iffy, as is. Regardless how good Milledge may turn out to be, Blanton is presently more valuable to the A's, period.

The A's don't have a player like Milledge, however, and at that price I don't see why they wouldn't jump at the idea. They have put so much emphasis on their 1-4 starters the last few years, and what has it gotten them. They could part with one of them to pick up atalent like Milledge.

And the Mets certainly need to address the starting rotation. After the playoffs last year, that is all anyone could talk about, and now we are going to stick with Oliver Perez? Come On!

I would still prefer Harden, but I'm not sure I'd take Blanton for Milledge. The A's would have to sweeten it a little.
