I have no problem with Girardi winning it... i mean hell, the Marlins had no business playing as well as they did. Willie did a fantastic job, and he's only going to get better. Hopefully Omar and Willie will be in Flushing for a very long time together.

While Willie Randolph deserved the Manager of the Year award, Joe Girardi deserved it just as much, if not more. The Marlins were not supposed to be a good team, playing a lot of young players. But, they performed well. I was impressed with them.

I thought Willie Randolph did a really good job this year, and from what I saw he is the best manager the Mets have had that I can remember. At the same time though, you have to remember that the Mets had the highest payroll in the NL so they should have had the most wins, and the Marlins had the lowest payroll in baseball by far.
They only spent a little over 14 mil and the next lowest was over 35 mil asp.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/salaries/totalpayroll.aspx?year=2006 |
