Default Realistic Look at the Playoffs

As of now, our only realistic shot is really with the Wild Card. Two Spots, Five Teams. Here are the situations for each team:

Jacksonville: 7-5
vs. Indianapolis
at Tennessee
vs. New England
at Kansas City

Denver: 7-5
at San Diego
at Arizona
vs. Cincinnati
vs. San Francisco

Cincinnati: 7-5
vs. Oakland
at Indianapolis
at Denver
vs. Pittsburgh

Kansas City: 7-5
vs. Baltimore
at San Diego
at Oakland
vs. Jacksonville

New York Jets: 7-5
vs. Buffalo
at Minnesota
at Miami
vs. Oakland

Out of all the teams, I feel that we're the only one with a legitamate shot at winning the rest of our games. If Mangini keeps the team from getting cocky and keeps them motivated, I feel we're a lock to finish atleast 10-6 or possibly 11-5. I'm not sure how all the tiebreakers work, but I know we lost to Jacksonville head to head, therefore they have priority over us. That being said, we have to hope to finish atleast one game better than them, since tying wouldn't help. They have a pretty tough schedule left, so it shouldn't be that hard.

Thought I'd also point out.. Michael Smith of ESPN picked us and the Bengals to take the two WC spots:

Quote:
• New York Jets
In or out? In (10-6).
The Jets are taking care of business and feeding on the bottom feeders. They've beaten the Texans and Packers the past two weeks by a combined score of 64-21. Of their last four games, none is against a team with a winning record (Buffalo at home, at Minnesota, at Miami, Oakland at the crib). Then again, this team also lost at Cleveland back on Oct. 29. But the way the Jets went into Gillette Stadium three weeks ago and beat the Patriots and competed in a loss to Chicago two weeks ago proves they're for real. Even if the remaining opponents' records aren't cause for concern, the fact that two of them are against AFC East teams means they'll have some tough games. The Jets, though, will find a way to win three of four.

Good day to be a Jets fan.

Jets win + Jacksonville Loss + Chiefs probably losing =

Jets back in the hunt.

Since Denver also has the best conference record, I believe we are still out of the WC.

In order to make the playoffs at this point, we'll need to finish with a better record than both Jax and either Denver or Cincy.

Jax has NE and KC left

Denver has Cincy and SF left

Cincy has Denver and Pitt left

We play at Miami, then home against OAK.
-----------

We can assuming either Cincy or Pitt (most likely Cincy) beats Denver next weekend, and Jax loses to either New England or KC (most likely NE) we should be in.

If it helps, the NBC halftime show picked us as the only guarentee to make the WC. I wouldn't put too much stock into that though, since they also said they don't think Cincy or Denver will get in (which I think is clear that atleast one will).
