Default Welker on way 2 Gillette for visit

As I eluded to in the other signings thread, Wes Welker is on his way to meet with Patriot officials, and is expected to sign the offer sheet.

My question is why are we going after an RFA, when there are UFA's out there. I mean to get Welker, we'll have to give up a pick if the Fish don't match the offer.

I guess the Pats front office must really believe that he can be a solid WR for Brady to throw too.

But almost anyone has to be an upgrade over who we ended the year with I suppose

Welker is SO worth a 2nd rounder. He's only 25 and has shown some amazing skills in the last two seasons. If we can get him for a mere 2nd rounder, while having two first round picks anyway... I will be psyched.

Glad to see someone else give their insight on this matter. I don't really know Welker's game, so I hope he was what you imply, and I'm not so worried about us giving up a pick, more just the fact that's in a way helping out one of our rivals

Ok so I just read that indeed the Pats did acquire Welker from the Fish

The Patriots acquired receiver Wes Welker from the Miami Dolphins today for undisclosed draft choices, the team announced.

I hope this kid is the real deal, but at this point, the fact that it says undisclosed draft choices kinda scares me. I know the Pats draft really well no matter where their picks are, but I hope we didn't have to give up too much for him
