9-0! That's the record of the indomitable New England Patriots after a stunning come-from-behind victory against the defending Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts (now 7-1.) Tom Brady and his wily mates overcame some very poor officiating and a pair of spectacular Indianapolis interceptions to win the game that could land the Patriots the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

The Patriots actually had to work hard in this one, as evinced by the fact that for the first time all season, they failed to score at least 30 points and beat their opponent by 17 or more. But a win is a win and the Patriots got the job done in the Circle City. Brady was 21 for 32, passing for a total of 255 yards and 3 TDs. Randy Moss hauled in 9 receptions (including a superhuman one-handed catch) for 145 yards and 1 TD. Wes Welker bobbed and weaved his way through traffic to set up a lot of important plays.

On the negative side, penalties almost killed the Patriots in this game. They need to work on that for Week 11 and beyond. The score was closer than it needed to be, given New England's superior offensive execution. Most of the Colt scores came off Patriot errors and questionable calls, although I give Brackett a ton of credit for his interception of a decent Brady pass at the start of the 4th quarter. He tipped the ball, hung onto it, and rushed quite a few yards.

Indianapolis is still a very tough team and worthy defending champion but I think the Patriots look somewhat better. I like New England's chances if the season comes down to a rematch of last year's AFC Championship, only this time in Foxborough.
