So do you think you got what it takes to be an NBA executive?
How many picks can you predict from the NBA draft lottery? Well, post your picks in this thread, and we will see how good you really are. Whoever gets the most picks right will get Fanhome bragging rights... ***All picks must be made before the actual draft starts. You can post your picks any time, and then edit your post if you wish to change them. I will tally up who got the most points at the conclusion of the draft. The Draft is Thursday, June 28, 7:30 p.m. ET

1. Portland: yes, they have to take Greg Oden
Upside, he's the next Shaq; downside, the next Eric Montross; reasonable expectation, the next Robert Parish. 2. Seattle: and they have to take Kevin Durant. Upside, it's LeBron v. Kevin for King of Basketball over the next decade. Downside, he's a Pippenesque wing man to some other star. Reasonable expectation, like Carmelo Anthony, he's the go-to guy for an above-average team. 3. Atlanta: These guys need a point guard, not another 6' 9" guy who isn't old enough to drink. I say they take Conley here. Upside, he can run the team. Downside, he can't. Reasonable expectation, he can. 4. Memphis: Al Horford looks good here. Upside, he pairs perfectly with Gasol. Downside, he's just another 6' 9" guy. Reasonable expectation, a long career as a solid PF. 5. Boston: I hate to condemn a Tar Heel to an organization as lousy as the Celts, but he's a good grab at #5. Upside, he scores 20 a night and helps raise Boston's shooting percentage to competitive levels. Downside, bigger, stronger NBA big men use him in their artful interpretations of Godzilla vs. Bambi. Reasonable expectation, 15 solid points a night from 2009 through 2018. 6. Milwaukee: This team is rotten with mediocre big guys but could really use help at the point and wing positions. At forward, Jayhawk Julian Wright is as good a pick as any, but no better than the guys who are already suiting up. Acie Law gives them a point guard with potential. Upside, the next Gary Payton. Downside, a few million dollars worth of unfulfilled hopes. Reasonable expectation, a durable cog in a decent basketball machine. 7. Minnesota: These guys sure could use a good PG, too bad there aren't any left. The Wolves take a gamble on Jianlin. Upside, he holds his own in the paint. Downside, he proves yet again that 235 lbs is too small, even if your more than seven feet tall. Reasonable expectation, he nails down a starting spot. 8. Charlotte: The Bobcats build fan interest by taking players from National Championship teams. So far, it hasn't worked, as they're almost giving tickets away. Given that Noah has two championship rings, Charlotte won't be able to pass on him. Upside, he's a nice complement to Okafur. Downside, he does all his scoring in the hotel and all his sleeping on the court. Reasonable expectation, a solid but unspectacular player. That's enough for me. |

Great analysis dlb....
Well, it will be interesting to see who Boston will take....They are a team that could decide where a whole bunch of players fall. Boston clearly needs a big man, they just don't have one. Ryan Gomes led the team in rebounds last season, get only 5.6 a game! Yi Jianlian is a guy that will take some time to develop, probably a lot, but he has a lot of upside. Plus he is a 7 foot forward who can shoot, he is not a center, which I think they need the most. He may not be the best rebounder though so maybe not..... It would make the most sense for Boston to trade down and pick either Spencer Hawes or Tiago Splitter (contract issues though)....They flat out need a center or a power forward who can rebound. Maybe like dlb said Brandan Wright might be the guy, but I am not sure if he will fall to them at 5.
