Just curious as to others opinions here about that knockout punch Tootoo delivered to Robidas last night?
Does that warrant a suspension in your book? Do you think he will get suspended? I think he should. That was one helluva punch. |

Absolutely NOT!
Tootoo did NOTHING wrong. If anyone should be suspended, it is Modano for his cowardly stick swinging. GDT: Stars @ Predators - 3/17/2007 7:00pm CST Enough said. Last edited by PredDave; 03-18-2007 at 03:33 PM. |

See, here''s the thing:
Everyone's going to compare the incident to the Simon incident. The injury is what makes the incident stand out. This is another example of failures of rule enforcement under Colin Campbell. Penalties are supposed to deter incidents like this and you know what? Players are only penalized (suspended -- or even given Penalty Box time) in February/March for stuff like this. If this happens in November, no one says anything. Thus is the paradox and the utter failure of Gary's Game. |

what a joke! Now Modano, on the other hand, should be suspended for intent to injure (with his baseball style, stick swinging). That should never be tolerated... I don't doubt that Tootoo will have to endure more cowardly punks taking runs at him... oh well, I am obviously in the minority and I don't expect you to understand. |

Toots deserves a 15 game suspension. That was a sucker punch. The guy is a tool and barely has enough skills to play in the NHL; the league would be in its best interest to phase players like him out of the league, especially if they're too gutless to fight enforcers instead of picking fights with skill players like he does. That sort of crap is what gutless pansies do. Robidas came over to fight...Toots knows how to fight...and that's what he should've done, not thrown a sucker punch.

Given Tootoo and Modano, only a blind man would consider Modano the "coward". And only a fool would consider a one handed "slash" to be deliberate attempt to injure, while considering a roundhouse sucker punch clean. Face it PredsDave, your opinion is based exclusively on the logo adorning the front of each player's jsersey.
Tootoo is the type of player doesnt belong in the NHL. Minimal talent, he gets by playing the "agitator" role, which in Tootoo's case equals dirty. He's been deliberately attempting to injure guys since his junior days, and on that play, he succeeded with with a truely cowardly act. He should have gotten more than the five games he did. Five games seems right. I still think there are incidents we all have long since forgotten from earlier in the season that were simply passed over because it wasn't March.
Colin Campbell sucks. |

I'm not alone either. Keith Jones, Mark Messier, and Phil Esposito all said that Tootoo deserved 0 games... that's right, NO SUSPENSION. But the "new NHL" has to play nice and encourage spineless, Euro-style hockey with cheap stickwork. It was not a sucker punch. Nichol got 9 games for a much more severe act. How do figure 15 games for trying to protect himself? We'll just have to agree to disagree.... ![]() |

Consider yourself warned, BigBadBlueBird. Discussions and points can be made without namecalling. I suggest you re-think your wording before you resort to namecalling in the future. I agree that Tootoo has minimal offensive talent, but he has a role to fill. Apparently his agitator role is working if it gets under your skin. I fail to see how you judge Tootoo as a coward. |

Brashear's dirty hit on Witt. No suspension. Ovechkin dirty hit on Briere. No suspension. The list goes on and on... Tootoo overzealously protects himself to a glass chin Robidas. Suspension. Mike Modano, Chris Chelios, Doug Weight, Keith Tkachuk <-- all dirty in their own right. The reason I could never cheer for USA hockey.... |
