Default Your Hart Trophy winner?

Yeah, the 2006-07 season is still under way but who would you pencil in for the Hart as it stands right now?

I picked Marty even though it pains me to do so. He's been pretty darn good, so I expect another Vezina to come his way this year too.

Roberto Luongo. The Canucks were a better team last year and they came in 9th place. Insert Luongo and they may win the division.

Luongo has always been the guy who keeps his teams in contention. He kept the Florida Panthers mediocre when they should have been dismal... It's worth noting that everyone I listed (sans Lidstrom ) is an Eastern Conference player and gets media attention in the east. Hell, Nik is in Detroit that is technically not in the west (Detroit is close enough to the Northeast that it isn't written off)...

So color me guilty for not including Roberto...

Luongo is a good pick. He has really carried the Nucks a long way. I still hope they crash and burn though.

I'd have to go with Lou or Crosby, both teams werent expected to do anything this yar, and both teams are making noise! I may favour Lou more because he's had to carry the team on his back, when he under perfroms so do we. The Sedins have been terrific though. And great deadline pick ups!

They named the Hart candidates today. Dany Heatly and indeed Luongo made the list. I've edited the poll to reflect that.

I chose Luongo. How you can overlook a guy that fills a position on a team that has had nothing but issues with. Canucks have been so close so many times in the past few years but didn't have the tending to get to the end.

They are a scary team now.

Two months ago it was Brodeur without question, but he hasn't kept up the amazing pace he was on and Luongo has been remarkable. Gotta go with Luongo.

Nice to see Lou leading the way! Its very weird having a goaltender you can count on.

I have to admit, sometimes Im always waiting for that lame goal to go in, like with Clouts and Auld. Im not as bad as I was at the start of the season, its amazing how much confidence a top notch goaltender can give you, even as a fan!

Put up a post on my blog arguing for Luongo. Of course, my blog is a Lightning site so the vote (in the online poll there) has been lopped in one direction and one alone.. It's a 3 person race in that poll (whereas here it's a one player race with a lack of voting).

I'm running this exact poll on another site and lets just say that the results are homer-ific.

It has to go down between Crosby and Luongo, Brodeur is protected by a defensive style of play, while Crosby and Luongo played for offensive teams. I would go with Crosby though, the Penguins just had a formidable year with him finishing as point leaders.

It all depends on whether or not Luongo and the Canucks do the impossible and come back in the playoffs IMHO. Luongo already seems like the Conn Smythe winner to me with how many saves he's made and shots faced...

But that's Conn Smythe. Not Hart.
