Gretzky and gambling

there's a huge gretzky ad near madison square garden, something about nice guys, i believe. then i remembered all the discussion about his future after the gambling scandal. what became of that whole thing?

He was not involved, it was his wife and asst coach Tocchet. I think they dropped charges against her for testimony. Tocchet still insisting he is innocent...has not come to trial

i recall you being particularly vocal about gretzky being forced out of the game (of course, it's been a while and i could be wrong).

I thought it would tarnish his name and his marketability. I was vocal about the seriousness of the alledged criminal abuse by his wife, Janet...namely money laundering.
At the time, they were talking about her betting over $500K over the course of a year.
SInce then, everyone got awfully quiet...she was angry, Wayne said nada...and the authorities, who had been leaking pieces to the press, stopped talking
