This is just a simple yes or no poll asking the question if you would be happy or mad if the nets got bigger.

I think that they should leave the nets the same. This talk about changing the game should stop. Leave it as it is already.

No, No, No, No, No!
I'm getting tired of them threatening to change the various fundamental parts of the game...it's just unwarranted. This is one instance where I actually agree with Roberto Luongo's viewpoint. Yes, the game would appeal more to casual fans if there was more scoring -- but why alienate the true fans? IMO, the game was fine before the lockout. It was still decent afterwards, but the more they change, the less appealing it's becoming to real fans. I say just leave it as it is. We sure don't need goal-fests, those are even more boring than anything. The whole softening up the game is also getting a bit old...people like fights, they like the hard checks and the fact that you have to fight to get and keep the puck. The more they take away from that, the less actual action there is on the ice...so why? Meh...maybe that's just me...

The NHL has to stop this changing for the better of the game, period.

Bigger nets would possibly hurt scoring records and goalie records. This rule would not be good for the Redwings because they have Hasek in he net. He already has a problem stopping the puck.

they've already made enough changes to the game, some for the good some not, but I'm totally against this.
It would change so much. Stats would not be able to be compared to old timers due to the drastic changes in the net

They're trying to bring more fans to the game, and this would do that (casual fans, not true fans). The reason everyone here hates the idea is because these are true hockey fans, the ones that the NHL doesn't seem too interested in. The last I read of this issue, the NHL decided against bigger nets because it had next-to-no backing from any of the players, but they're still looking at it because of the casual fans and the potential to turn the NHL into a goal-fest. That's my understanding, at least. What we think is the least concern of the NHL, sadly.

Do we need the Casual fans who like goal scoring. Only in some city's but you got to cater to the real fans if you want the NHL to survive.

The NHL doesn't agree with that viewpoint, and that's their decision. Eventually it will backfire on them and hockey will have to revert, but for now, if we want to watch the NHL, we've got to watch this watered down version that arbitrarily gets readjusted every year... Quote:

I agree with all of your points by far. It worries me what the NHL will be like in 10, 20 years. I sure hope this doesnt happen but by then i think fighting will have also been terminated.
