This story should be sad and forlorn that someone has passed on to the great beyond -- someone from the hockey world that has long been an integral part to the NHL.
Yet, how many hockey fans in Chicago (the few that remain with thanks to Wirtz himself) will shed tears over this? Bill Wirtz has driven a stake through the heart of hockey in America's heartland like no other with thanks to his business practices. Yes, NHL fans... Bill Wirtz is dead at age 77. Rumor has it the Funeral will be blacked out as well

I can't ask him to Rest In Peace and I don't know if the league should either. If there's one man that's compromised hockey in the US -- it's Wirtz and his Dollar Bill attitude where profitability went before competitiveness. He's been an integral part of Gary's Game the last Fifteen years....
Someone may have died, but it wasn't a tragedy.

I'm not saying it was a tragedy but he still should respectively rest in peace.
