Default Dan Boyle out 3-6 weeks

The Tampa Tribune is reporting Tampa Bay defensiveman Dan Boyle is out 3 to 6 weeks after having a skate fall on him at his locker.

Sure, that alone sounds funny but the full story is the skate blade fell and cut him at the wrist, damaging or outright severing a tendon.

It's still up in the air what the Lightning will do in th emeantime. They have prospects and depth at D-man in the system but not much confidence. They were already trying to weed out a #6 defensiveman at camp but now they may be looking to fill the five and six defensive slots.

Ouch, that's not good. Brendan Morrow took a couple of months to properly heal after severing the tendon in his wrist. Hope he has a speedy recovery!

^^ and Tampa Bay fans do too, especially! The pre-season was focused on trying to chose a #6 D-man and now they need a #5 and 6. Brad Lukowich will most likely spend time on the top two defensive pairs in the meantime

What a wierd way to get injured. Anyway TSN is reporting 4-6 weeks instead of 3-6 weeks.

You are correct on the time change. The initial report was 3-6 weeks. The St. Pete Times is reporting that if rehab goes well, he will miss a total of 11 games or so.

Doug Janik, who was re-signed for depth purposes, probably just locked himself in to make the team. He knows the system and Torts will want at least one more veteran on the roster for the start of the season. Jay Feaster also has his hands tied at the moment when it comes to spending with the team sale still in flux (it hasn't been approved by the league).
