Default Glass-shattering sends two to the hospital

Quote:
OTTAWA -- Two children attending the Ottawa Senators' game against Florida were sent to a hospital for precautionary reasons Thursday after plexiglass shattered in front of them when Chris Phillips checked Florida's Stephen Weiss into the boards.

The article doesn't state the condition of the children now, but since it was for "precautionary reasons" I think it's safe to assume that they're okay.

This made me think of the Ulf Samuelsson check that sent Gretzky's wife to the hospital, while Gretzky continued to play.

I saw the hit. I think the kids'll be okay. They were only sent to the hospital because little bits of glass went everywhere. Didn't seem like the hardest hit in the world, so maybe there was a tiny crack in the glass even before that.

The hit at the Garden that sent Janet Gretzky to the hospital was a little different because she got hit by pretty much the whole pane when it came loose from the stanchions.
