I didn't think that much of him as a QB,not as a person. He's a sorry excuse for a human being if he's found guilty.

Vick has lost a majority of his endorsement deal just due to the indictment. Nike has put the shoe with his name on it on "hold" I'm guessing that it never sees the light of day now.

Anyone else think that Blank is hoping that the NFL suspends Vick so the team doesn't have to?

The second group is comprised of uneducated rural hicks who believe the best sex is with somebody you're already related to or with a farm animal, and who need something else to do during the daylight hours.

Which group do you suppose Michael Vick belongs to? Or maybe it's both?

Which groups do you suppose Clinton Portis belongs to?

You do realize George Washington and Abraham Lincoln participated in cock fighting?

Which group do you belong to, dj? Oh wait, never mind. I think I know.

Clinton Portis? The new arbiter of moral standards? However, since you asked. According to Portis - another in the long line of NFL Rhodes Scholars masqerading as football players - he grew up in Laurel, Mississippi, where he says you could go down any back road and find dog-fighting. So I guess he would belong to the second group.

Abraham Lincoln and George Washington? Cock-fighting? You really have slipped over the edge and into the abyss, haven't you?

Vick told to stay out of training camp - Yahoo! News

Vick has been told to stay away from training camp while the league reviews the case.

and Dj, things change over time, your justification for dogfighting is the same one given for slavery.

So, Emmitt didn't bother to read the indictment, big deal.

More people unite with Michael Vick:

Quote:
"I'm a supporter of Vick," Donovon McNabb said Tuesday at Lehigh University. "That's because I'm a good friend of his and also we're guys that obviously compete to win the Super Bowl. We push each other. Now, I don't know exactly what happened in that situation, and I think for all of us that have read over the stuff that was over the Internet, the report, you look at it as kind of like, 'Wow, you've got your so-called friends and family members turning their back on you now to make their situation better.' They're throwing you under the bus so that they can clean their name. That's unfortunate. That goes to show, I always have a saying that I've always lived by: If you can't trust family, who can you trust? It's an unfortunate situation, and I just hope everything works out well for him where he can get back out on the field."

Quote:
"What a dog means to Vick might be a lot different than what he means to you or I," Deion Sanders wrote. "Some people enjoy proving they have the biggest, toughest dog on the street. You're probably not going to believe this, but I bet Vick loves the dogs that were the biggest and the baddest. Maybe, he identified with them in some way.

"You can still choose to condemn him, but I'm trying to take you inside his mind so you can understand where he might be coming from."

ATLANTA, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Troubled Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick will be honored during the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's convention, a group official said.

SCLC president Charles Steele said the religious organization will offer its support to Vick as he faces federal dog-fighting charges, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday.

Vick's lawyers are currently negotiating a plea deal. All three other defenders have or will be pleaing out. Vick has been offered a one year sentence.

He's about to admit his own guilt.

Dj, how do you feel about his guilt or innocence now?

John Clayton (Hall of Famer) on KJR-AM Seattle today when talking Vick mentioned not only did all three plea guilty as of this morning but at least one has indicated that Vick himself hung one of the dogs with his own hands. Also stated is that prosecutors are working for a 16 month sentence.

He speculates that Vick is at least three years from being back in the NFL with a route that goes through the Federal Pen, and then a year or two in the Arena League. His suspension will be tacked on AFTER the time served.

Vick is in ever increasing trouble.

Quote:
0Prior to the release of the documents, Phillips, 28, and Peace, 35, both pleaded guilty in US District Court to a single count of conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and conspiring to sponsor a dog in an animal-fighting venture.

The offense carries a maximum prison sentence of five years and a fine of 250,000 dollars.
Everyone but him charged has pled guilty and agreed to cooperate.

Default Bad News Kennel: Conspiracy or Worse?

Given the severity of the charges, and the indictment runs eighteen pages, which portends to hold more dire consequences for Mr Vick:

The conspiratorial aspects and the funding of, and transportation of, illegal gaming in the form of fighting dogs and equipment, OR

The violence charges, in which he and co-defendants are charged with at least: drowning of dogs, electrocution of dogs, slamming of dogs, and general abuse in the guise of fight training.

Personally, assuming most of the violence charges are upheld through to an eventual conviction, I find the prospect of jail time in the amount of ONE year or less to be offensive.

It takes a special kind of anti-social, inhuman mind to be involved in dog fighting, and the related charges are so heinous as to boggle the mind.

For me, its the inhumane nature of the treatment of the dogs.

I could care less about any RICO charges or whatever else they want to charge him with...

Agree. And since the NFL and every other pro sports endeavor is so hopelessly intertwined with gambling, that (Racketeering) would be a tough nut to crack. Or to sell to a jury.

I think a one year sentence for this level of cruelty (if proven) is incredibly light.l
