ESPN - Federal grand jury indicts Vick in dogfighting case - NFL

The Falcons quarterback was indicted for conspiracy to traffic in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District in Richmond, Va. Three others -- Purnell Peace, Quanis Phillips and Tony Taylor -- also were indicted by the grand jury on the same charges.

According to court documents filed by federal authorities earlier this month, dog fights have been sponsored by "Bad Newz Kennels" at the property since at least 2002. For the events, participants and dogs traveled from South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland, New York, Texas and other states.

It will be intriguing to see how this gets handled, especially by Roger Goodell. This is the second time this offseason he's had a run-in with authorities. He hasn't been convicted of anything, but neither was Pacman Jones (I believe he wasn't convicted at least).

yes he is innocent until proven guilty.

Why would anyone earning as much as he is, allow a group to use his property for illegal purposes given the danger this poses to him? One that makes relatively little money compared to his likely future earnings?

That does not make much sense to me.

He'll play again. I don't know why anyone thinks he won't. I'm not even going to bet he gets jail time.

I'd give him (if found guilty) a good sized fine and make him do community service by cleaning out the animal cages for 6 months at the local shelters.
