Default Theismann replaced by Jaws

ESPN.com - NFL - New MNF booth: Jaworski joins Tirico, Kornheiser

Quote:
Ron Jaworski will join Mike Tirico and Tony Kornheiser on the ESPN telecast. Jaworski replaces Joe Theismann, who has been offered a prominent football analyst job with the network.

"We appreciate the work Joe has done for 19 years and continue to talk with him about another high-profile football role with ESPN," said Norby Williamson, ESPN's executive vice president for studio and remote production.

Michele Tafoya and Suzy Kolber will continue as sideline reporters.
This might be my favorite offseason transaction, much better than the Kevin Curtis signing or the Takeo Spikes trade.

Great move; Jaws is about as knowledge of a person as you can get when it comes to the game of football. Plus you shouldn't have to worry about anymore awkward moments because Jaws seems to get along pretty good with Tony when he is a guest on PTI. Plus if I am not mistaken I thought I heard Jaws announcing Arena Football League games this year and he didn't sound bad. Theismann announcing a football game is the equivalent of Joe Morgan announcing a baseball game.

I think this is a good move as well by ESPN. Jaws knows alot about the game and will provide alot of knowledge to the crew. Theismann didn't annoy me as much as he did alot of other people, but he still needed to be replaced.

While I have seen worse then Joe, I do like Jaws better. This is a good move.
I've been a fan of NFL Matchup for a long time. I've always felt he did a very good job.

Hey Hellwig,
Ya gotta have a little love for a former member of the Big Red Machine....

I like Jaws, and couldn't stand Joe T, but Tony isn't the freaking answer either.

Gimme back Micheals & Madden

My mouth just dropped when I read and it and all I could do is shake my head

Never had a problem with Thiesmann. He made relavent insightful comments and wasn't annoying. Maybe ESPN just wants someone with more attitude that brings some energy to the broadcast, because Joe was a little bland at times. Jaws is a step up in that area I guess...Hopefully Joe still gets to be a football analyst somewhere.

I agree with ganja....I never had a problem with Joe. ALways thought he was an insightful announcer and kept the game interesting.

I think Ron will do a good job though too, probably about the same. Except he will keep mentioning the Eagles....blah

The guy that should be canned is Tony Kornheiser....He is just out of place. He seems like a comedian in a rehab center.....

Couldn't agree more about Kornheiser. Never liked him because he seems like a smart-alleck, but I might be wrong. Nonetheless I think he should be the one getting replaced...

I've always liked Kornheiser. I enjoy listening to him on PTI. Better than that knuckle head Wilbon. The more Jaws talks about the Eagles the better

For an Eagles fan, but not for another team's fan . I don't know if I remember Theismann constantly mentioning the Redskins. I just mention Jaws because on NFL Countdown he always bragged up the Eagles....which isn't bad if you are a fan of them haha

Anyway, don't get me wrong Kornheiser is great on PTI, in fact excellent. I just don't think he should be in the studio calling games. I just don't think he has the knowledge, and he is annoying at times. Dennis Miller II?
