Any thoughts? I think decent selections, and am happy to see Irvin get in because he was dominating and its nice to see thurman and matthews get in too.

Philly fans will always hate Michael Irvin for 2 reasons: Him and TO are buddies, and he played with the Cowboys. I hope some Eagles fans are there to boo him when he gets inducted. He was a very good wideout, but I think there could have been a better selection than him.

Seasons among the league top 10
Rec 1984 #1 1985 #2 1988 #9t 1989 #3t Rec Yrds 1984#4 1985 #3 1989 #10 Rec TDs 1991 #9t Ranking in the ALL time top 50 Rec 6th Yards 11th tds 30tht YFS 32 1980: Named to the NFL All-Rookie Team. 1985: Named to the NFL Pro Bowl, the Pro Football Weekly All-Pro Team, the Associated Press All-Pro Team and the UPI All-NFL Team. 1986: Named to the NFL Pro Bowl and the UPI All-NFC Team. 1987: Named to the NFL Pro Bowl. 1992: Sets NFL record for most career receptions at the time (820) on nationally-televised game against the Denver Broncos. At the moment, no receiver in the Hall has more receptions. And when he retired, no receiver in football had more, either. Also, he played on four teams that went to Super Bowls, with three of them winning championships. If thats not a good resume than what is?

Yeah Art Monk will get in eventually though.
He desrved it a couple of years ago. I mean, he is one of the best all time. We all know that he will get in soon so no worries. I'm calling it next year. With that, I'm very happy that Charlie Sanders got in! You gotta think though. We have so many HOFers but not 1 superbowl win! We are a sad franchise.

From my ole buddy DD.....He was an accumulator, not a dominant player.
Well Dave....The man took the hits in the NFL to accumulate those numbers. They are his numbers. They are good enough for the HOF. I think the fact he stood in there that long to get those numbers says tons. Hall of Fame???? You bet!!!! Just my take. js Last edited by TITANFAN; February 5th, 2007 at 07:40 PM. |

NOt to mention the fact that he was not the only reciever on a very talented offense. He had lots of company as well...Ricky Sanders, Gary Clark, Ernest
Byner, John Riggins, Tim Smith. The great think about Monk, was his hands. He did not have the speed of a Jerry Rice or the size of Harold Carmichael, but in the clutch when it counted the most, and a catch was needed the MAN was Art Monk. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, and should have been before Michael Irvin was ever considered. Next year, he should be in, because it is a thin year. Quote:

So, Emmit Smith is not and will not be a hall of famer either right? I mean he only got the record because he player 2 more years in Zona. Guess he was just an accumulator....

Monk was never dominant. If the HOF is suppose to be about the best players of all time,Monk was named to the pro bowl 3 times over his career, while it is to be respected,is not among the best.I think Monk would be more deserving than some WR's in there like Swann and Stallworth.
I could make a strong case that Drew Pearson should be in the HOF for his clutch catches, and being named on the all decade team for the 1970's. Irvin deserved to get in.A definate team leader. He was 4th in 100 yard receiving games of all time.and had the most in 1 year. His stats, even counting his injured years, are better than Monk's. |
