I love watching Reggie Bush play, but I am extremely glad they did this. I wish they would have fined him more. When kids see things like this, they want to emulate it so badly and it's just bad sportsmanship whether it's in the backyard or the NFL. I coach high school football, and one of my JV players did the Reggie Bush flip or dive into the end zone, obviously before the Saints-Bears playoff game, he didn't play the rest of the game, and I told him if he ever did it again, he would be kicked off the team. But it is seen as cool to do, and there is no need for anyone to be taunting someone else in high school football, muchless JV. It just sends a bad message of what is cool when they do it in the NFL.
I do however think that the penalty for touching a pylon during a celebration is absurd, and they should be encouraged to celebrate with their teammates, instead of by themselves. It's as if the NFL wants to promote the single player in the ultimate team sport...weird...

its footbal not tauntball. a lot more people would watch if the players screwed the cheerleaders on the sideline but you wouldn't suggest that right? |
