Default Donovan McNabb out for season with ACL injury

They just said it during the Colts/Cowboys game on CBS. I'll try to get some more info.

That pretty much kills the Eagles hopes for a playoff birth.

Yup, all sites are confirming the news...

Huge news! Poor Eagle fans - they've had it rough the last couple years.

Isn't Westbrook banged up too?

The NFC as a whole has problems. The Cowboys look to be the best team in that conference.

Over the Bears?

Sucks for Philly. Two years in a row now that they will have played without McNabb for a major part of the season. I actually had surgery for a torn ACL a week and a half ago too, although I tore mine a year and a half ago. Besides being handicapped, it is nice not haveing to work, i can stay home and watch football all weekend. But I still have to go to school it is no fun getting around on campus with crutches.

Really bad news for the Eagles Jeff Garcia isn't the QB he once was. Things don't get much easier than the Titans. The next two weeks they have to play the Colts and the Panthers.

I personally hate philly, along with the cowboys and g-men, However, I think McNabb is one hell of a QB and hope he recovers 100%.

mcnabb's career now officially on the downside, he turns 31 this week, an ACL tear will take a 10-12 months to repair, then it takes another year for him to be back to 'his old self'.

So at age 32 he will be on the field again, at age 33/34 he will be back to 100%.

His body was already beaten badly enough before this most recent injury.

don't get me wrong, he will come back to play, just not nearly effectivly as before.

McNabb plays the quarterback position though, so injuries shouldn't be that much of a problem. and he doesn't rely on his scrambling abilities that much these days anyways. it isn't uncommon for a quarterback to have one of their best years in there mid 30's.

as Dante Culpepper (not that i was a fan of him before the injury) is proving this year the ACL tear is a tough thing to get around as a QB, especially a scrambling qb.

of course qb's can have a great year in thier mid 30's, in mcnabb's case it will be mid 30's when he's back at 100%, but having a great year in your mid 30's as a scrambling qb is the exception to the rule rather than the rule itself.

I hope the Eagles draft a QB in day 1 of the draft next year. It has to be addressed early.

Cullpepper had a much worst knee injury from what i heard. McNabbs is just an ACL tear with probably some partial meniscus damage. A doctor on ColdPizza was saying that this injury will only take 6 months to heal 100% unlike Culppepers.

ACL is traditionally 10-12 months. i've heard of 8 months (Braylen Edwards CLE). 6mths seems a little quick to me, but who knows.

even still, it traditionally takes another year (after the player returns to the field) for the knee to be at 100%

It's a wait and see if you're an Eagles fan. I want to keep hearing updates, and if he isn't close to being ready by March or April, I'd draft a QB early if I was Andy Reid.

Brew- I've always thought it has been a year as well. But lately i've been hearing six months. Six for McNabb and i just had ACL surgery 2 weeks ago (still on crutches) and the Doc told me in 6 months i should be able to play basketball.
