Default Lelie leaves the ATL

Quote:
-- Lelie Voids Contract and Will Hit the Free Agent Market --
Thu Jan 25, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports Atlanta Falcons WR Ashley Lelie, whom the team traded for last summer, voided his contract on Friday and is now scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. He had play-time incentives that allowed him to void the final year remaining on his contract. That makes him the top free agent wide out on the open market. Lelie was made expendable when Denver traded for WR Javon Walker but clearly wanted out before that trade was ever made. Atlanta traded, in essence, RB T.J. Duckett through Washington, for Lelie in the preseason.
Well, cant really blame Lelie, I mean I would want to get away from Vick too

But the Falcons WR core was pathetic as it is and now they lose probably their best WR in terms of talent....not numbers but talent....

But would New England even take him?

Ashley Lelie isn't going to be a big-time free agent this year, he's just not worth anything anymore. You can say that the reason's he's done badly so far in his NFL career is that he's had 2 mobile yet unaccurate QuarterBacks in Micheal Vick and Jake Plummer but why in the world would anyone want this guy anymore?

He's not going to get tier 1 money... but he will draw a LOT of interest... there are plenty of teams with WR trouble and decent to good QB's

I can't even start to list all the teams he might go to...but I REALLY hope the Panthers could grab him. He's a deep ball threat that the Panthers could really use to compliment Smith as a #3 reciever or #2 if Keyshawn doesn't want to come back. Then again...I don't really see much of a difference between him and Drew Carter except he has more potential.

It would be nice to see the skins trade Lloyd and Patten for a draft pick/picks and sign Lelie. Moss, El,Leilie and Thrash wouldnt be a bad little WR Corp.
