Since I brought this issue up on another post, let's talk about it.
What do you guys think? Personally, I think it may be too early to tell. But if I were to judge *today* I would give the edge to Rivers and San Diego. Rivers has looked very impressive. His demeanor is what impresses me the most. These last couple game, where he fell behind big and still managed to come back, was impressive. If he keeps this up, he could turn out to be one of the best QB's in the league (well, he might already be). And with LT and Merriman, could we talk Superbowl? |

River's looks much better so far this season, but Rivers has only played well for ten or so games this year, so it is still early for him, plus you got to factor in the different playing environments. How would rivers have handled starting games in his first year and starting the entire season in his second?
This reminds me of another trade that involved the chargers as well. Remember the one that basically sent Vick to Atlanta and LT to San Diego? Chargers seem to be pretty good at tradeing, maybe other teams should take notice. |

The worse part of the trade was that the Chargers screwed the Giants...Eli Manning was not going to play for the Chargers regardless of what happened, so you would think the Giants (or any other team) would have the bargaining power to offer lets say a swap of 1st rounders and a 5th round pick....not a swap of 1st rounders, plus a 3rd rounder and the following year 1st rounder.

there really is NO question that the chargers got the better end of the deal. A Giants future first round pick to jump up only a few spots? Sounded like a bad trade from the beginning. Even if Eli turns out to be pretty good, I still think the Chargers got the better end.

Chargers I think got the better end of the deal but I think it's too early to tell who is the better QB; Manning or Rivers. Rivers is having the better season but how much of that is directly related to playing with LT?

People like to bring up the fact that Rivers plays with LT and Gates, but IMO Eli is surrounded by a lot more weapons. Shockey is just as good as Gates. Plax is probably better than any Chargers WR (when he is on anyways) and Tiki is no slouch at RB.

I like this trade more for the Chargers then I do the Giants. Both teams have ended up with quality quarterbacks, but the Chargers got more then just a quality quarterback. I do not think there is much of a question right now as to who got the better of this trade.

i think the Chargers got the best of the Giants in the trade-the giants gave up a ton to get manning.
now as for who has a better supporting cast...i'll go with Eli, Rivers may have the better overall weapon in LT, and a great TE in gates, but Manning has a great RB as well, a great TE, and two good recievers.
