Default Let's talk draft

Who do you see going first overall?

Do you think the Dolphins will keep the first pick or trade it? Do you think the first pick helps more than it hurts? A team like that needs a lot of good players, not one excellent player.

I don't think the value is to trade up to number1... you MAY see a team move up to #3 or 4... but I don't see an all out clear cut player that is must have and must go to the #1 pick

No, but there are lots of dumb teams out there. Dallas, really just Jerry Jones, is reportedly enamoured with McFadden because of the Arkansas connection and might pull out all the stops to get him.

I think McFadden is the best player in the draft. I also think running backs are a likelier bet than quarterbacks, at least in this draft. However, Miami needs a quarterback and are set at running back with Ronnie Brown.

Vic Carucci makes the same point in his mock draft:

Mock draft: Are Dolphins thinking Long and hard at No. 1?

He interestingly touts Chris Long as the first pick.

McFadden may not even be the best RB in the draft... also remember that it has been proven time and time again in recent years that good to great backs can be had beneath the top of the draft...

Jones may have the hots for McFadden... but he's not going to give up the price required to go clear to #1... he knows that it is far less likely that any of the top 3 teams will go for RB... so the highest I believe that even he would think of trading up to is the 3 or the 4 spot (more probably the 5), so that the Jets do not draft him at 6... but there is a serious chance that they could get a back who could be even better (In Mendenhall or whatever his name is) at their actual pick later in the round... plus a RB at that point in the draft is not going to cost as much

I could see that happening. Al Davis and Jerry Jones work out a trade to get McFadden in a Cowboys uniform.

Jerry Jones would be very happy:
