Default Pro Bowl...who cares?

If they dropped this, would anyone really miss it other than people who live in Honolulu?

I'll admit I was watching a bit of it when I had the chance, just because it's one last football game. Other than that, it's not much more than watching the guys practice.

The Seahawks non-elected defensive players would miss their free trip to Hawai'i paid for by the players that were elected.

I'm guessing the answer is no.

I wonder if they did it after the eighth game of the season the game would attract more interest. But I doubt the players would want to give up their bye week to do it.

I think the Pro Bowl is more about the honor of being selected, not so much the game itself. It allows players to add something to their resumes for Hall of Fame consideration.

they should definitely give out the nominations but drop the pro bowl. too risky for a player of that quality to play in a meaningless game.

I agree with Zen and shake. A player is still an All-Pro without having played in an All-Pro game.

The All-American team in college doesn't play a game. There are all star college games, but those are more for scouting purposes, especially the Senior Bowl.

I don't think they should get rid of it, mostly for the tradition of the experience for the coaching staffs and players to go to Hawaii for a week with their families. It's an honor for them and just getting named to the team would not have the same effect. I mean, I don't actively watch the game, but I don't think they should get rid of it.

By the way, this year had the highest TV ratings since 2000.

I don't know a single person who watched it.

I was flipping through the channels and it was late in the 4th qtr. I didn't know it was on. I might've watched it. Still infinitely more interesting than anything else going on in sports right now.

We had it on at work...I usually watch it when I remember. They don't advertise well, that's for sure. I mean it's entertaining...they should show more skills competition at half time but yeah

I didn't know it came on as early as it did and missed it. I'm not advocating they cancel the game but I doubt the public would revolt if they did.

Without a doubt the lamest of all the 'All-star' games. I get more excited for the exhibition 'Hall of Fame game' where first-string players play maybe one set of downs.

Football is a team sport. Pure and simple. You can't pair five linemen from five different teams and expect any kind of quality play.

The Hockey all-star game has been superb in recent years. The Basketball all-star game is at least entertaining, while baseball is a Summer tradition and usually has a good storyline or two.
