I would like to see the kneel down, particularly at the end of the game, eliminated. It almost makes no sense. Play the game. If one wants to do qb sneaks, at least it's a real play.... at least the drama of the game is maintained until the end. It gives the losing team still a possible fighting chance.

Ya but say if a QB is sacked near the end of the game then the clock will be stopped and the team that got sacked will not have to use a timeout and will have time to regroup. Taking a knee is part of the game.

It's just a waste of time going through the motions. In that case, assuming a losing team cannot stop the clock and time will run out, what the league should do, is allow the losing team to just concede at that point, knowing that the winning team is going to just do kneel downs.... saves everybody the time and energy.

Three consecutive kneel-downs take no more than two minutes of real time. Most of that time is spent recapping the game, discussing its significance and even promoting upcoming programs. I don't think it's that big of a deal.
Now, the game would be a lot more interesting if the clock stopped after every play inside 2 minutes, or after every first down. That's a different discussion though. |
