Smile Kneel Down

I would like to see the kneel down, particularly at the end of the game, eliminated. It almost makes no sense. Play the game. If one wants to do qb sneaks, at least it's a real play.... at least the drama of the game is maintained until the end. It gives the losing team still a possible fighting chance.

Why should the losing team have an extra chance. Ay football fan will tell you they love to see their team run that play.

Yes, how exactly would you prevent the kneel down? An alternate play would be to have the QB just fall down.

I think the Arena League has a rule that the clock stops if a play loses yardage.

Ya but say if a QB is sacked near the end of the game then the clock will be stopped and the team that got sacked will not have to use a timeout and will have time to regroup. Taking a knee is part of the game.

I wasn't advocating such a rule for the NFL. I don't see why the thread starter has an issue with the kneel down. If a team can run out the clock they should be allowed to do so.

I was hoping this would be another thread about Jessica Simpson.

It's just a waste of time going through the motions. In that case, assuming a losing team cannot stop the clock and time will run out, what the league should do, is allow the losing team to just concede at that point, knowing that the winning team is going to just do kneel downs.... saves everybody the time and energy.

Three consecutive kneel-downs take no more than two minutes of real time. Most of that time is spent recapping the game, discussing its significance and even promoting upcoming programs. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Now, the game would be a lot more interesting if the clock stopped after every play inside 2 minutes, or after every first down. That's a different discussion though.
