First of all, let me identify myself as a lifelong Cowboys fan.
![]() These two teams continue to win in grand fashion. Each has had one loss where they didn't play their best football, with Dallas' loss coming at the hands of New England - who everyone must regard as the best team in football until someone can beat them! I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself since this game is three weeks away, but I believe they will meet in Dallas each with 10-1 records. Packers' schedule before playing the Cowboys: CAROLINA (4-5) @ Detriot (6-3) Cowboys' schedule before playing the Packers: WASHINGTON (5-4) NY JETS (1-8) The Cowboys seem to have the upper hand here, since the Packers have a harder schedule and the game on November 29th is in Dallas. Everyone seems to think the Cowboys are the best team in the NFC right now regardless of the fact that Green Bay has an equivilent record. If you believe that, you'd have to think Dallas ends up 11-1 after this game while Green Bay falls to 10-2 and pretty much loses any hope of home field advantage in the playoffs. However, I worry about this game. Dallas hasn't been the best at controlling quarterbacks this season (see Tom Brady) and Brett Favre is the best QB in the league. While I think Dallas and Green Bay are obviously the two best teams in the NFC, I don't think we can clearly say that one is better than another until this game is played. I do think that whoever wins this game will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Going into the other team's stadium and winning in the playoffs will probably be too much to ask of either team, although both are very good on the road. |

They could still afford to lose in Detroit if they swept the rest of the regular season. Can you imagine Dallas and Green Bay tied at 14-2 at the end of the season and playing in Green Bay because of the tie-breaker? I can. I could also see the game being played in Dallas for the same reason. 14-2 and still not getting home field advantage? That would be nuts. Then again, that's very likely what's going to happen to two teams this season! (Colts and Green Bay/Dallas)

Definetly, my thoughts exactly. I don't see the Pack escaping with a win against Detroit, mainly because they seem to have bad luck against in the Lions, espically on Thanksgiving day.
The Cowboys-Packers game definetly will probably be the game of the season in the NFC/the most hyped up game in the NFC this season. That's for sure. Mainly because of Romo vs. Favre Nobody really mentions the fact that the Packers defense has given up the 3rd fewest points in the NFL...

If Green Bay can hold Dallas under 30, I believe this will be a very close game. Or, I can even see a nightmare scenario for Dallas where this game becomes a replay of the New England game where they put up some decent points (27), but their defense is completely unable to stop Favre and the Packers end up scoring 40+. I don't see this game as one that is an automatic win for Dallas. Many of the sports announcers seem to want to put Dallas in the super bowl already, though. Dallas has a big rivalry game with Washington this Sunday. This would be a huge game anyway, but especially now that Washington swept Dallas last season. Gibbs' team is struggling this season, but don't count them out of a possible upset. Dallas should run away with this game, but they've layed an egg before. See Buffalo. |

At 6-4, Detroit is now in a hole. That record puts them on the bubble of the wildcard race and they very much need a win against Green Bay on Thanksgiving. However, when comparing the play of Green Bay and Dallas right now, I'd say that Green Bay is handling their opponents better than Dallas. Dallas continues to have a difficult time defending the pass, which has to concern them against Favre.
Until proven otherwise, I'd have to put Green Bay above Dallas in ranking the NFC. Since these two teams keep winning, the excitement for this game continues to grow. |

Easy now. Having the two best teams in the NFC is like having the two best teams in the National League, or the two best teams in the Big Ten Football Conference. Sure it's the best of that conference but they are both second rate when compared to the AFC, AL, SEC.

Oh I don't believe that. Who in the AFC is obviously better than these two teams?
New England - ok, that's a given. Indy? Not necessarily. Pittsburgh? Not necessarily. I'd say that in the NFL right now, NE is obviously the best and there are at least four teams that we could put in second place and make a decent argument for each. |

Wel that kind of proves my point. It's like Big Ten vs. SEC really. While I'd put Dallas and Green Bay against any team from the NFC until they've played (i.e. Dallas v. NE), to say that WOW we get the TWO best teams from the NFC!! Woot Woot, who cares? It's not like there is another team in the NFC that could compete seriously with the AFC. Big Ten has Ohio State and Michigan (and sometimes Wisconsin/Penn State) but would you even think about putting up another Big Ten team against a team from the SEC? You could try, but it just doesn't seem like a very good idea.

Well, I don't think anyone should undervalue the chance for their team to go to the superbowl. I'm still not convinced that NE is unbeatable. I think whoever beats them will have to score lots and lots of points, but it's possible. Dallas left a lot of points on the field in that game.
Best of luck to you in your game against Detroit. I'd be excited about a 9-1 record if I were you. I know I am. Good seasons can be hard to come by. |
