The Packers tried to play above themselves last night. It just didn't make any sense. The onside kick attempt? For what? All year they have played the field position battle, I think last night they knew without Woodson and KGB they couldn't get Dallas off the field. They took so many deep shots, it was no where near the same playcalling they usually get until Rogers got in the game. I think he calmed a lot of Packers fans worries about the future with that performance though.
Packers just have to get healthy and get back on a winning track, and hopefully come into Dallas in the playoffs full health, and see if they can't give em a better game. Also, it's a good thing Brett Favre didn't play high school football in Texas because he probably would have led his team to the State Championship at Texas Stadium, and got absolutely torched because he is just downright AWFUL on that field.

This wasn't a perfect game for the Cowboys, but they clearly demonstrated they are the dominate team in the NFC with this win. The Cowboys scored 27 points in the first 21 minutes of the game. Their defensive playcalling for the first half was almost perfect until Favre was knocked out of the game. Once that happened, the coaches pulled back on the pressure on the quarterback and Rogers started burning them for about the next 20 minutes when they decided it would be a good idea to go back to thier original gameplan of pressure and aggressive offense. The last 12 minutes of the game was decisive where the Cowboys pulled away.
This game should not have been as close as it was. If the Packers come calling in January, I expect a much worse outcome for them. Dallas should have scored 50+ while holding Green Bay under 20. I'm pleased with the outcome knowing that we haven't seen the best Dallas has to offer yet. If they start playing perfect ball like they did for the first 20 minutes of this one, they can definitely beat New England. |

FiveStars, I wouldn't count on having so many top defensive players out for the next match-up, nor would I count on Favre having the worst game he's had this year.

I don't give too much credibility to injuries. Every team has them. Dallas has had them this season, too. To say that Green Bay could have won that game with it's "top" defensive players is a stretch. Favre had his worst game of the year because he faced the best defense of his year so far. It's only when Dallas let up on the pass rush that Rogers started completing passes. Before that, they were destroying Favre. Literally.
The first 20 minutes of this game was the most dominant I've seen Dallas all season. The lesson I hoped they learned is to have that attitude of putting teams away. When the starting QB is knocked out of the game, you don't let up. You apply more pressure. |

LOL. Okay, maybe you didn't pay attention to the Packers playcalling in that they went outside of themselves in the first couple of series with Favre throwing deep balls all the time. Once Favre went down they went back to their short yardage passing attack that happens quick enough that the Cowboys weren't able to apply pressure. It's all whatever, hopefully we get a rematch with both teams healthy in Dallas for a ticket to the Super Bowl.
