Another third place finish?
Expect Brazil to take the Gold. Little Leandro, Nene, Anderson Varejao, and Tiago are going to do some major damage. Argentina gets the silver, U.S. might have a shot at the bronze. Expected participants: • Kobe Bryant • LeBron James • Carmelo Anthony • Dwight Howard • Chris Bosh • Shane Battier • Kirk Hinrich • Chauncey Billups • Amare Stoudemire • Michael Redd • Kevin Durant • Jason Kidd • Mike Miller • Tyson Chandler • Tayshaun Prince • J.J. Redick • Deron Williams

I totally disagree here, I think they did a good job picking the team this time around.
They got the obvious stars like they usually do in Kobe, Bron, Kidd, Melo and the like but then they went for specialst guys and guys that can actually shoot and make a 3 point shot ( which is key in international play ) Guys like Hinrich, Redd, JJ, Miller are all going to play huge roles and need too if the USA wants to win gold and establish itself again. Battier and Prince were also good picks for the D and they should also improve the team alot, guys you actually play D were not found on the USA team last time around.

I don't understand why you would make a statement like "team USA sucks" and not explain yourself. Brazil has a good team, but that doesn't prove that team USA sucks.
I agree with Bravesrule. Team USA has an excellent balance between stars and specialists. As long as Kobe and Lebron can learn to work together and establish some chemistry, I think USA has a legitimate shot at the gold. |

Kobe's the best player in the world, how can the USA lose?

Here is the sad thing:
Team USA might not even qualify for the Olympics: Could basketball's Team USA really miss the Beijing Olympics? Stranger things have happened - Sportingo

I have no idea why Kobe loves him. Maybe he pines for the college days he never had.
Krzyzewski's entire coaching strategy is built around doing a few things very well and playing with maximum aggressiveness and emotion. That works for young men who are away from home for the first time and can form a military-like unit. For a bunch of seasoned stars, it's completely worthless. The game has passed Krzyzewski by in that the better teams can stop the few things he chooses to do well. He needs more tricks in his bag. Oh, yeah; Kobe may also love Krzyzewski because he can't coach big men. He's never had a successful classic post player at Duke. |

Brand was only with Krzyzewski for a year (maybe two), and he didn't develop his post skills at Duke. That took a couple of years after he went pro. Boozer also developed in his post-K years. You can pretty much count on a post player from Duke not being ready for the pros, and the longer he's been with Krzyzewski, the more seasoning he'll need.

Boozer avg 13 points and 6 rebounds his 1st 2 years at Duke which is nothing special but in his JR year he came back with 18 points and 9 rebounds a game, I think that you can see he developed nicely over the 3 years and in his final year before leaving put up a big season.
Brand was indeed @ Duke for only 2 years and did nothing specil his 1st year, same as Boozer basically 13 and 7. But again the next year he came back and dominated inside 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. As for not beind ready for the NBA, in Boozers 1st season in the NBA he avg'd 10 points and 8 rebounds a game, im sorry but thats good for a 2nd round rookie draft pick. Elton Brands rookie season all he did was avg 20 points and 10 rebounds a game..not too bad for a bad post player.
