For those of you who may not know, Andrew Bogut, the Australian center for the Milwaukee Bucks, attacked American culture (although that may have been a euphemism for black culture) in the Australian press. Etan Thomas of the Washington Wizards, who also writes columns for Slam Online, responded with a long letter addressing prejudice in both America and Australia:

An interesting read. Bogut's actuall comments look a lot more innocuous than Thomas' well written and argued take on it. The fact that Bogut also made a less than complimentary remark about Australians seems to have eluded Thomas.
Bogut's specific mention of Europeans and exclusion of the high character Africans did raise some questions in my mind, but Bogut is a young basketball player and not a mature government minister. |
