Why would a team trade for Bryant? He's about to hit the downside of the aging curve. He can't lead a team to a championship. He's surly and self-indulgent. And he'll act as if he's more important than the franchise.

Who needs that?

he's 29.

and why can't he lead a team to a championship?

a team would trade for him because he's a spectacular player who gives his teams a better chance to win. with the right pieces around him, he can of course win a championship.

Why would a team trade for Kobe ?

Hes the best player in the game, would be reason #1. Aside from a dominate center ala Duncan he would be the first player I would pick to carry my team.

Kobe Bryant has the same problem as A-Rod.

He wants to to be loved and respected by the fans so badly, he tries to be something that he is not, and fans see through his act.

You have people you want to love like Shaq

And you have people like Kobe Bryant.

Fans will never fully embrace Kobe Bryant ever...

Kobe is trying to find something that is gone.

frankly, it's irrelevant ultimately what the fans think, in terms of winning games. arod and kobe both help their teams win games by what they do on the field/court. fans want to feel like they have power over these guys.

Didnt Kobe have the top selling jersey last year ? or the year before ?

The fans seem to love him now more than they ever did

yes, he's regained his former spot. It didn't take but two years really.

Totally agree with your statements about fans in this context, I just have a little nit to pick. Kobe hasn't really been helping his team win.

he doesn't have a very good team around him, and they've had injuries up front that keep them always in flux. and they're awful defensively. but they make the playoffs anyway. and they have one of the more efficient offenses in the league, in large part because of kobe.

Everything and body Mitch has traded for has been sub par players....so as far as our depth goes i would say we are at the bottom compared to all the other Nba teams out there.I am as a Laker fan having a hard time grasping at the concept that we would rather keep Mitch Kupchak around than having Shaq or Kobe, because let's face it both players has have or has an issue with Mitch, and the fact is that Buss actually believes hes doing a good job with the team is another laughable and funny matter.Buss personally if he plans on and continuing to win tittles & keep any credibility he has left, needs to just shut up and stop letting the media sucker him into making dumb and crazy statements that will or has ultimatley drove a wedge between our star player and the team.I do or have acknowledge that Kobe hasnt been mr innocent in the media as well...but as fan we want to win ....the time with dealing with a mediocre team has to come to an end.

^^^ agreed

Mitch is just an awful GM, and the fact that hes the going to be the man to basically set your team up for the next 10 years based off trading Kobe would be enough to make me go insane, if I was a Laker fan.

I mean did you see what he asked for from the bulls ?

Deng, Gordon, Ty Thomas AND Noah.....I mean I dont blame you for asking for alot for Kobe but come on man .....your going to screw yourself over with this asking price.

Take Deng and Thomas and a picks and move on.
