I wonder what's next for him. Does he want to coach another NBA team? Does he want to give the NCAA a try?

I am totally shocked by this move, and I dont understand it at all. This team was built in the perfect mold for Jeff. Team built around D and they have 2 great players in TMac and Yao, I just cant believe that Jeff would just walk away from the team like this.

Something else has to be going on here

I've never thought of van Gundy as a great coach. He's more of a b-rater who can do a decent job almost anywhere but won't win championships.

Braves, I wonder if it's the Larry Brown wanderlust syndrome.

LOL

It might be

I would give almost anything to get JVG back in NY and coach. The guy gets the most out of his talent and ALWAYS turns his team into a top 3 team defense in the NBA.

He has no since come out and said he is unsure of his status. It appears he is leveraging for a new contract since he only has 1 more left on this current one.

Sure, but the Knicks would have to be about 500% better to qualify for mediocrity.

JVG grabbing Alonzo Mournings leg and being dragged around the Court was the worst moment in Knicks history.
JVG"s refusal to play Sprewell as a starter cost Grunfeld his job as GM and when Checketts forced him to play Sprewell as a starter in the Post Season the Knicks went to the Finals.
JVG left the Knicks knowing they were to rebuild and wanted no part of player development...Yao Ming will now emerge as the great player he should be.

He was the most negative loser ever to coach a team that I rooted for...a brilliant defensive strategist but still a whiney little man.

Well its now official the Rockets have fired Jeff, they choose not to pick up his option year and let him go as coach.

It appears that Rick Adelmen will be named the new Rocket coach.

Still dont really understand it, Adelmen hasnt won a ring or anything either. Never took those great King teams to the finals and we all know about his days in Portland.

Just odd to me
