Default NBA free agency: B-diddy to the Clip-joint

Quote:
The Clippers commemorated the first full day of the 2008 free-agent season Tuesday by reaching a verbal agreement with homegrown point guard Baron Davis on a five-year contract worth an estimated $65 million, according to NBA front-office sources.
ESPN - Davis verbally agrees to go to Clippers, leave Warriors - NBA

Assuming they re-sign Elton Brand:

PG: B-Diddy
SG: Cuttino Mobley/Eric Gordon
SF: Al Thornton
PF: Elton Brand
C: Chris Kaman

Bench: Tim Thomas, Brevin Knight, DeAndre Jordan

That's a nice core. It should elevate them above the Kings, Warriors, and Nuggets. If Davis-Brand-Kaman can stay healthy.... Thornton emerges and Gordon can provide a spark his rookie year, I say that can get them a 6th-7th seed in the playoffs next year.

So much for Baron Davis pairing up with Elton Brand in Los Angeles. The former Clipper is apparently on the verge of signing a long-term contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Corey Maggette also announced that he will sign a 5 year/$50 million contract with the Golden State Warriors. The Celtics had been interested in him, which means they desperately need to do whatever it takes to re-sign James Posey.

Same old Clippers... Elton Brand signs with the 76ers!

Only hope for them is to throw a lot of money at Josh Smith.

As for the Warriors, what the hell are they doing?

They sign Corey Maggette (who BTW is not as good as Jason Richardson who they traded last year) and that's $50 million dollars going on the bench!

They drafted Anthony Randolph, another raw PF like Brandan Wright and still don't have a PG to replace Baron Davis.

And they give Ronny Turiaf $17 million? Goodness..

Hopefully the Rockets or Hornets sign James Posey, any team but the Celtics.

The Celtics signed Patrick O'Bryant, 22, to a 2-year/$3 million contract. He'll likely serve as the primary backup to Kendrick Perkins at center. I hope this isn't Ainge's idea of how to replace P.J Brown. The former Bradley standout failed to impress Don Nelson in two unproductive bench-warming years for Golden State.

Looks to be another decade before the Warriors see the postseason again.
