Default Minnesota/Memphis trade

Upon hearing the news for the first time, i was left shaking my head in disbelief; OJ Mayo for Kevin Love, are you freaking kidding me? Then I read into it a little bit more and upgraded the trade for the Timberwolves from disastrous, to well, I'm not sure anymore, but all I know is OJ Mayo may soon be killing your team for the late seed berths, possibly for consecutive years.

Look- It's clear that there's question marks regarding Mayo's development into a star, but we've all heard of high-risk, high-reward, and for my money, thats a better gamble then Love- the one who been the subject of man-crushes from many scouts who watched him do his thing in his final year at UCLA(with Collison and Westbrook to open up space for him). Yeah he has size and can do things like score and rebound, and probably even translate that to the pros with success (like a solid double-double guy), but doesn't he play the same spot as Jefferson? and even when you throw in a money shooter like Mike Miller, he doesn't provide that shutdown defense that Mayo indicates he might bring to the NBA level, the type of Defense the Wolves lack in order to advance anywhere past the 1st round of the playoffs.

What has Jim Stack loving Kevin Love more than prospect of shutdown tandem in Brewer and Mayo(at the least)? And at the most, the third overall pick could develop into, dare I say, a Jordanesque player. How would that taste in Green and Black Minnesota fans?

Timberwolves get:
Kevin Love
Mike Miller
Brian Cardinal
Jason Collins

Grizzlies get:
OJ Mayo
Antoine Walker
Marko Jaric
Greg Buckner

I would say the Grizzlies got a steal in OJ Mayo. That kid IMO is going to be a star.

Love I have questions about.

The Grizzlies have Mike Conley, OJ Mayo, Javaris Crittenton, and Kyle Lowry at guard. Pretty nice.

Conley and Mayo could be an all-star duo in the future. Crittenton aint a stiff either.

The Timberwolves got better although still very much a rebuilding team. Unless Kevin Love is the second coming of Bill Walton or Hakeem the dream, the Timberwolves are still a gutter team in the Western Conference.

Shouldn't they consider consolidating at the guard position? How are they going to find enough minutes for everyone?

I suppose Mayo will play the two-guard spot in Memphis. I just doubt he'll be pleased about it. Point guard is the more glamorous position, and if you don't get experience at point guard early on in your professional career, you're not going to be transitioned there later.
