WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution Wednesday honoring Red Auerbach, who coached the Boston Celtics to nine NBA titles and added seven more as general manager.

The Auerbach Resolution was introduced by Rep. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-D.C., and 57 co-sponsors. Markey praised the passage of the resolution before Congress concluded its work for the year.
