Anyone think they are for real and will get past the second round this time? Carl Landry is having a nice rookie year and he's an improvement over Chuck Hayes.
They have a nice 8 game winning streak. Too bad they traded Rudy Gay for Shane Battier. Gay is a type of player the Rockets need.

I don't think they're completely done yet. Yao can't take credit for all 13 wins...they must be doing something right as a team. Plus the Nuggets & (my) Warriors are too inconsistent to be considered postseason locks just yet.
As far as past the second round, well... |

18 straight.
They also released birthday cake dunk boy Gerald Green. Boy, what a bust he was.

I'm surprised that the Rockets released Gerald Green so quickly. Is the D-League's Mike Harris really any better?
Rumor has it that Green didn't show much effort in practice, and rubbed the coaches the wrong way. At just 22, I still think teams will give him some more chances. He'd be a decent fit in Indiana or Memphis, where he could get some playing time and maybe try to establish himself as he heads into free agency.

Houston's success will only be judged by the playoffs though. They've had decent regular seasons before, they need to make the Conference finals.

The Rockets now have the #1 seed and play the Lakers Sunday minus Pau Gasol.

Rafer Alston was nearly unstoppable against the Lakers. Shane Battier shut down Kobe, the best a player can do.
They need Carl Landry though. Chuck Hayes at the free throw line is touch to watch. It is almost like a Charles Barkley golf swing. ![]()

The Celtics (3-0 on their Texas road trip) ended Houston's streak on Tuesday with a 20 point thrashing of the overrated Rockets. Tracy McGrady scored only 8 points as Boston cruised to victory.
The Celtics head into New Orleans tomorrow night with a perfect record against the Southwest Division, and season sweeps against the Lakers, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas. Still not impressed, DJ?
