Oden lost for season - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
LOL! Guess it was not wise trading Zach Randolph for nothing.

It's easier to get knee problems when you're close to 40 years old.
![]() That's just sad and funny all at the same time.

The only positive spin for Portland is that the future outside of this season looks really bright.
Not only will Oden play NEXT year, but Portland will likely have another high draft pick to add to their currently developing team. |

Only a sicko would find this funny. I can't even get happy when dookies get injured.
This is a tough break for Portland, a disappointment for basketball fans and possibly a matter of serious concern for Mr. Oden. I don't know the details of the cause of this injury, but there are certain physical laws that work against the knees of very tall players. If you think of the leg bones as two levers that meet at the knee, then you get a sense of the kind of stress that intense athletic activity generates in the knees of a very tall person - those are long levers. This endemic difficulty ruined the career of Ralph Sampson, one of the most talented college big men ever. Let's hope Oden fares better. |

Yep, they'll at least be in PDX in the 09/10 season, djwhokid can't say that about the team we follow.

The soon-to-be 17-time champion Boston Celtics caught a major break in not winning the No. 1 pick. It set into motion a series of trades that made basketball relevant again in Massachusetts. I can't begin to tell you how depressing it was to be a Celtics fan these last several years, attending games in a half-empty white elephant where the primary entertainment was watching Lucky the Mascot hit shots that none of the Celtics could make.
Had Boston won the lottery, there would be no Ray Allen, no Kevin Garnett, and now no Greg Oden who might not even be that good in the first place. It would have been yet another twist of the knife into the hearts of loyal Celtics fans. |
