Default Preds plan to sell to local group for 193 million

Things in Nashville are starting to look up for the Preds organization and I have to say that everyone who stepped up to fight to keep our team in Nashville deserves a huge kudo with the biggest kudos going to this local group of 8.

Nashville can sustain another major sport and will prove it in due time.

here's the story:

Group put down $10 million deposit, signed letter of intent to buy Preds

The Nashville Predators have signed a letter of intent to sell the team to a local group of investors trying to keep the NHL franchise from leaving town.

The group of eight partners plan to pay $193 million, owner Craig Leipold said. One of the partners, David Freeman, chief executive officer of 36 Venture Capital LLC, has put down a $10 million deposit to make sure the deal is completed.

The only partner from outside the Nashville area is William "Boots" Del Biaggio III, a California venture capitalist who is a part-owner of the San Jose Sharks.

"I'm excited to pass the torch to David and to Boots and their group. I know that they are all committed to Nashville," Leipold said.

Terrific news!

I'm pleased that the local group is working out.... Del Biaggio sounds like a decent partner as well.

Yea I'm really excited about him being involved. I know some are skeptical, but I think he brings legitmacy to the new group, and will have connections taht the new guys don't have.

Positive news all around for the preds and their players and fans.

Ya its good in all but you have to look at the fan base. How are the predators going to bring in new fans. In Canada they would do great.
