The Nashville Predators face the Montreal Canadiens tonight for the first time since December 18, 2003 and for the first time in Music City since March 10, 2003. In the last meeting between the two clubs, Sheldon Souray capped off a hat trick with an overtime game-winner (0:35), in Montreal's 5-4 win at the Bell Centre. The Predators are 2-4-1 all-time vs. the Canadiens and 2-1-1 at Nashville Arena.

The Predators, who are 7-2-0 vs. Eastern Conference opponents this season, will play their final game of the season vs. the East tonight. Nashville (83 points) entered last night’s contests one point ahead of Detroit (82 points) for the Central Division and Western Conference lead. The Red Wings played host to the Chicago Blackhawks last night at Joe Louis Arena.

The Montreal Canadiens enter tonight’s tilt battling a handful of teams for a playoff spot. The Canadiens (66 points) 5-3 victory on Tuesday night moved them ahead of Carolina (67 points), Toronto (66 points) and the New York Islanders (66 points) for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
Predators Notes

David Legwand established a career-high in points (20g-29a-49pts) with an assist in Nashville's win over Phoenix on Monday. Legwand, who has 21 points (9g-12a) in his last 21 games, leads the team and ranks among NHL leaders with a +29 rating… Scott Hartnell registered his fifth two-goal game of the season on Monday and is now tied for the club lead in goals (21)… Jason Arnott, who is tied for the team lead in goals (21) and ranks among NHL leader in game-winning goals (6) , scored his sixth game-winner of the season on Monday. Arnott has recorded points (11g-11a-22pts) in 17 of his last 22 tilts… Steve Sullivan is tied with Hartnell and Arnott for the team lead in goals (21) and ranks second on the club in points (21g-37a-58pts)… Paul Kariya, who skated in his 800th career NHL game on Monday, leads the Predators in scoring (17g-42a-59pts)… Tomas Vokoun made 22 saves and notched an assist vs. the Coyotes. Vokoun ranks among league leaders in goals-against average (2.35) and save percentage (.921)… J.P. Dumont, who had a goal and an assist on Monday, has three points (2g-1a) in his last two games and four goals in his last six contests… Kimmo Timonen (9g-30a-39pts) posted an assist on Monday and is now within one point of registering his fifth straight 40-point season.

HARTNELL SETS FRANCHISE RECORD
Scott Hartnell set a franchise record for the fastest two goals by an individual, scoring 23 seconds apart in Nashville's win vs. Phoenix on Monday. David Legwand held the previous record when he scored 26 seconds apart at 9:30 and 9:56 of the second period in a 6- 3 loss at Detroit on November 20, 2000.

Canadiens storyline: Winners of two straight following a six-game losing streak. … Rookie goalie Jaroslav Halak won his first two NHL games and will make a third straight start tonight. … Defenseman Sheldon Souray is tied for first among Montreal scorers with 50 points (20 goals, 30 assists) and has one of the hardest slapshots in hockey.

Predators storyline: Looking for their first two-game win streak since Jan. 26-27. They're 6-6 since the All-Star break. … Linemates Jason Arnott and J.P. Dumont have each totaled five points in their last six games. … Center David Legwand's next goal will be the 100th of his career. … The Predators are 22-5-3 at home.

Canadiens injuries: G Cristobal Huet (hamstring), LW Steve Begin (foot), RW Alexei Kovalev (elbow) and D Craig Rivet (pneumonia) are out; C Chris Higgins (shoulder) is questionable.

Predators injuries: RW Jordin Tootoo (hip) is questionable.
