It's safe to say that the Predators and the San Jose Sharks will not be exchanging Valentine's Day wishes when they meet in Nashville on Wed., Feb. 14. The two clubs, who squared off in the first round of the 2006 playoffs, have developed an intense dislike for one another and will be looking to set the tone for another possible playoff clash this year.

The teams split the first two meetings of the season, with Predators forward Scott Hartnell scoring twice in Nashville's 4-3 home win on Oct. 26. San Jose center Joe Thornton, whose size and strength gave Nashville trouble in the playoff round, posted three assists in that October game and added three more helpers in San Jose's 3-1 win over Nashville on Dec. 9 at HP Pavilion at San Jose. Jason Arnott and his Predators teammates will be making a point to shut down "Big Joe" during his return to Music City.

The home team in this series has won 10 straight games dating back to November 22, 2003. The Sharks have not won at the GEC since October 24, 2002. The Predators are 13-13-4 all-time vs. San Jose.

The Predators had their franchise-record eight-game home winning streak snapped with a 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night. The Preds (79 points) will be looking to leapfrog Buffalo (80 points) to regain the top spot in the league with a win tonight. Nashville remains one point ahead of Detroit (78 points) in the race for the Central Division title. The Red Wings are in Dallas tonight to face the Stars. The Predators are now 20-4-3 at home this season and will play five of their next six games and 14 of their final 25 contests in the friendly confines of the GEC.
