Hamhuis breaks the ice - Nashville, Tennessee - Monday, 02/05/07 - Tennessean.com
Ice is certainly nice, but for someone who embraces the great outdoors the boarded boundaries of a rink can become a little limiting. Such is the case for Predators defenseman Dan Hamhuis. Hockey is his passion, but nature is his playground. "As soon as I met him he wanted to take me out to the mountains right away," said Sarah Hamhuis, Dan's wife. "In the summer he wakes up at the crack of dawn and is busy until nightfall doing things. There is always a place to go or a fish to be caught. Every day is a new adventure with Dan." Hamhuis hails from Smithers, British Columbia. Nestled in the heart of the Bulkley Valley, the town of 6,000 rests at the foot of Hudson Bay Mountain, rises 8,700 feet and serves as the centerpiece for a life of adventure. "If you are a guy my age and you don't like the outdoors there's not much to do there, but if you do it's unlimited," said Hamhuis, 24. "There's great fishing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing. Pretty much anything you can think of." << rest of the article found at the URL above >> |
