Brentwood's Blake Geoffrion has been selected to the U.S. national team that will compete at the 2007 World Junior Championship in Sweden beginning Dec. 26. The 18 year-old Geoffrion was the Predators' second-round selection last summer. He's currently a freshman at Wisconsin, where he's posted a goal and three assists in 15 games. "He's been working very hard and he's been a very good college player," Predators assistant GM Paul Fenton said of Geoffrion. "He hasn't put up a ton of points, but that's not always a reflection of how you're playing. We've been very pleased with the way he's gone up against top lines. His two-way game is what he was recruited for and that's what he's shown." Geoffrion will be playing in his first World Junior Championship, which features the world's best players younger than 20 years old. But he's a U.S. national team veteran. He was a member of the U.S. under-18 team last season that won a gold medal at the 2006 under-18 World Championship. |
