Hagos, Stars get elusive gifts
Hard-working forward scores first goal and Iowa earns a rare win at home. A first for Yared Hagos helped the Iowa Stars to their first win at Wells Fargo Arena in more than one month. Hagos scored his first goal of the American Hockey League season - which ended up as the game-winner - in Iowa's physical 4-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday. Hagos was the lone forward who started the season with Iowa still without a goal. "I was trying not to think about it, but it felt so good," Hagos said. "I'm not going to lie." Des Moines Register |

Omaha goaltender gets shutout in shootout
Omaha, Neb. - Andrei Taratukhin scored the only goal in the shootout as the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights defeated the Milwaukee Admirals, 3-2, in an American Hockey League game Saturday night. Omaha goaltender Brent Krahn had a big night, stopping 38 of 40 Milwaukee shots and all five in a shootout. The Admirals' group of Rich Peverley, Brandon Segal, Jason Guerriero, John Vigilante and Sheldon Brookbank all failed in their duels with Krahn. Milwaukee gets a point with the shootout loss and is now tied for third with Peoria in the West Division. Both teams have 33 points. JSONLINE |

AHL: Krahn's big saves earn win in shootout
By his own admission, Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights goalie Brent Krahn has had his highs and lows this season. But Saturday night's performance ranks as his best of the year, and the Knights rode it to a 3-2 overtime shootout win over Milwaukee. Krahn made 38 saves and did not allow a goal in the shootout. "That was definitely my top game of the year," he said. "I was able to make some pretty good saves, and the defense played really well in front of me." "Pretty good" doesn't begin to describe Krahn's biggest save of the night, which came with six seconds left in overtime. Admirals forward Jason Guerriero tried to finish off a 2-on-1 opportunity, but the 24-year-old goalie made a sprawling save while flat on his back that triggered a standing ovation from the Civic Auditorium crowd of 3,860. Chance at victory slips away in final minute
The last thing the Milwaukee Admirals needed to have happen Tuesday night at the Bradley Center was for the visiting Chicago Wolves, who feature the top three scorers in the American Hockey League, to get any more leeway than necessary. But the Admirals couldn't weather their own mistakes, and the Wolves marched right in and stole a 5-4 overtime victory. "We got what we deserved," Admirals coach Claude Noel said. "You can't play that way and expect to win games. JSONLINE |
